Cookies

Our website uses cookies. Cookies are small text files that are temporarily stored on the hard drive of the user of the website/customer. If the user of the website/customer accesses the same server again, the browser of the user of the website/customer sends the previously received cookie back to the server. The server can then make use of the information received as part of this procedure in various ways. Cookies can, for example, be used to select what ads appear or they can ease navigation on a website. If the user of the website/customer would like to prevent the use of cookies, this can be done locally by making changes to the settings of the browser on the computer being used to access the website (e.g. Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera or Safari).

You can set your browser so that you are informed about the setting of cookies and only allow cookies in individual cases, exclude the acceptance of cookies for certain cases or in general and activate the automatic deletion of cookies when closing the browser. If cookies are deactivated, the functionality of this website may be restricted.

We use Sendpulse on our website, a service for our email marketing. The service provider is the American company SendPulse Inc, 220 E 23rd St #401, New York, NY 10010, USA.

Sendpulse also processes your data in the USA, among other places. We would like to point out that, in the opinion of the European Court of Justice, there is currently no adequate level of protection for data transfers to the USA. This may entail various risks for the legality and security of data processing.

Sendpulse uses so-called standard contractual clauses (= Art. 46. para. 2 and 3 GDPR) as the basis for data processing with recipients based in third countries (outside the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, i.e. in particular in the USA) or for data transfer there. Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) are templates provided by the EU Commission and are intended to ensure that your data complies with European data protection standards even if it is transferred to third countries (such as the USA) and stored there. Through these clauses, Sendpulse undertakes to comply with the European level of data protection when processing your relevant data, even if the data is stored, processed and managed in the USA. These clauses are based on an implementing decision of the EU Commission. You can find the decision and the corresponding standard contractual clauses here, among others: https://eur-lex.europa.eu/eli/dec_impl/2021/914/oj?locale=de

IP anonymization

We have activated a function known as “IP anonymisation” on this website. This means that if you are located in a member state of the European Union or another country which is in the EEC, Google will shorten your IP address before transmission to the US. In rare cases, the full IP address is transmitted to a Google server that is located in the US and shortened there. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of this website in order to compile reports about website activity and to provide other website services to the operator of this website in relation to website and internet use. Demographic characteristics in Google Analytics

This website uses the Google Analytics function known as “demographic characteristics”. This means that reports can be generated that contain such information as the age, gender and interests of visitors to the website.

This data comes from Google’s interest-based advertising as well as visitor data from third parties. This data cannot be attached to a specific person. You can deactivate this function any time by changing the respective preference under ad settings in your Google account, or you can prevent the collection of your data by Google Analytics by following the steps under “Denial of data collection” above.

In order to be able to provide you with interest-based advertising when you use Google search, which is operated by Google, we use plugins on our website that are provided by Google.

Facebook

We use plugins from the social network Facebook, which is operated by Facebook Inc. (“Facebook”), on our website. When you access web pages on our website that contain such a plugin, a connection to the Facebook servers is established and the plugin is displayed on the website by notifying your browser. This tells the Facebook server which of our web pages you have visited. If you are logged in to Facebook as a member, Facebook assigns this information to your personal Facebook user account.

When you make use of a function provided by the plugin, for example if you click the “Like” button or submit a comment, this information will also be assigned to your Facebook user account if you do not log out of your Facebook account prior to using the plugin functionality. Further information about Facebook’s collection and use of data, your rights concerning this collection and use of data and things that you can do to protect your privacy can be found in the Facebook data protection policy.

YouTube videos

We use a plugin provided by YouTube LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA, a subsidiary of the Google corporation.

When the videos are accessed, data is transferred to YouTube or Google. Among other things, the doubleclick cookie is also retrieved. However, to minimize the data that is transferred to Google, we use YouTube’s extended data protection mode. We have also implemented a two-click solution. This means that the videos are only loaded when you activate the videos yourself via a link. This means that the data is only transferred when you actually watch a video and have previously consented to the transfer.

You can learn more about data protection at YouTube in the data protection policy of the company: https://www.youtube.com/howyoutubeworks/user-settings/privacy/

Bing

In order to be able to provide you with interest-based advertising when you use the Bing search engine, which is operated by Microsoft, we use plugins from Microsoft on our website.

SSL encryption

For security reasons, and moreover to offer protection in the transmission of confidential information, for example queries that you send to the website operator, this website uses a kind of SSL encryption, specifically a secure AES 256 bit TLS connection. You can recognize when an encrypted connection is being used by checking the web address in your browser: addresses that are proceeded by “http://” are not encrypted, while web addresses that start with “https://” are encrypted – you’ll also see a lock symbol in the URL window of the browser.

When SSL encryption is activated, the data that your are transmitting cannot be accessed by third parties.
